Sintajoint and Sintakote

Corrosion is undoubtedly the biggest culprit of pipe failure. In our search to assist our clients to overcome this problem, we believe that Hall Longmore's SINTAKOTE® and SINTAJOINT® products are a great step forward.

   SINTAKOTE®
This new coating was introduced into the South African market in the mid-90's and is fast becoming the preferred coating for steel pipelines in the water industry. SINTAKOTE® is applied directly to the pipe using a fusion-bonding process.

Outstanding features of SINTAKOTE® include:
  • Very low water absorption
  • Excellent adhesion to the steel surface
  • High impact, load and soil stress resistance
  • Ability to accept pipe bending without damage to coating
  • High dielectric strength and electrical resistivity
  • Wide service temperature range (-40°C to +70&#deg;C)
  • Very low CP current requirements (typically <5µ/mˆ2)

   SINTAJOINT®
Excellent for both buried and above-ground installations carrying pressurised potable water and sewage rising mains. SINTAJOINT® joining system is particularly effective in sizes from 324mm to 1420mm diameter.

Advantages over welded joints include:
  • No need for cathodic protection on some pipelines
  • Faster laying rates
  • Less field plant maintenance and skilled personnel on site
  • No field wrapping or reinstatement of corrosion protection joints
  • Joints maintain full seal up to pressures that would rupture the body of the pipe, even with angular rotation
  • No need to X-ray pipe joints
  • Local labour and small contractors can be trained to lay the pipes easily
